M.C. Antil has written a
wonderful story on Syracuse's Baron Daemon and the Transylvania
Twist. M.C., from Central New York and spending some time at
Syracuse NewChannels, is a Chicago-based writer, baseball junkie and
self-styled pop culture omnivore who has fed his addictions over the
years by successfully holding down a series of day jobs, most
notably as a communications and marketing strategist in the
competitive and often hyperkinetic worlds of television, new media
and professional sports. Antil began his career in the front
office of the Chicago White Sox, under the tutelage of Hall of Fame
owner, Bill Veeck. During what he calls
professional sports’ “final days of innocence,” Antil learned the
business of baseball from the ground up. Check out his blog HERE.

Once again it is
with great sadness that I must report the passing of a fellow
broadcaster but more importantly a great friend. "Uncle" Fred
Horton passed away on March 4, 2008 after a battle with
cancer. Fred and I spent some of our early days in radio together
then again for a time at WSYR/Y94FM. He always looked out for me
and wanted to help when he could. He was a great programmer. Fred
spent time at WSEN & WYNY among others, and left me in
charge of the Oldies Show on Y94FM when he left for WDRC in
Hartford. Rest in Peace Fred, you will be
missed.

It is also
with sadness that I report on the passing of
another fellow broadcaster. Jim 'OB' O'Brien died Saturday, April
30, 2005 with friends and family at his side. I, personally
only met Jim on several occasions, but only heard what a great
friend he was to many others. Syracuse broadcasting will miss the
always cheerful tones of Jim O'Brien.
Rest in Peace
'OB'

The
WOLF Reunion 2004 was a HUGE success. Thanks to everyone who turned out
for both "on air" portions and naturally the private party at Aunt
Josie's. The entire day was recorded on both audio and video, See
the Reunion Page for more
information. I can't tell you how gratifying it was to see all the
smiling faces and people hugging that hadn't seen each other in
possibly 30 years. Rick Gary said to me at one point after 58 years of
competition, it just proves "We WON!" Thank You
to everyone who made this a success.

I've heard from many people via e-mail. Many
former WOLF alumni as well as WOLF listeners who remember the classic
station. I'd like to thank everyone for sharing their wonderful
memories. Just goes to show you how "much more" creative WOLF was, than
the competition particularly "you know who" across the street. You
don't see a WNDR Tribute site do ya? I have added a "WOLF
Staff list" because of the many requests I 've had. Please
check it for any corrections or additions you may have. Check in
occasionally for updates to the site as we get bigger and better. I
welcome all input and comments. Thank You again, and keep your
'puter locked on The Big 15!
