Howie Castle
January
1972 Howie came to the Big 15
from Radio Caroline off the coast of the UK. http://www.offshoreradio.co.uk/djsb.htm This link has a very nice story of Howie (who used Bud
Ballou on Caroline) as well as an aircheck from 1967. What the story
dosen't mention is Howie was program director of the very successful 94
Rock (WSYR-FM) until he left Syracuse in 1981. He is currently the weekend
news anchor on KOGO San Diego, California.
Chris Kaye ..."The
Sugar Bear" February 1972 Chris Kaye replaced Jerry
Morgan in August of 1971. Chris moved on in February 1973. His replacement
was Big Don Bieffer who came to Syracuse from CKFH in Toronto. He returned
to CKFH in June of 73, and was replaced by Todd Michaels.
Rick
Gary April 1972 Rick Gary's return April 17, 1972 from WMPS, Memphis from the Lee
Goodman collection.
Bob McMahon, Rick
Gary, Chip Lee December 1972 The 11:40 newscast with Bob
McMahon, Currently at WBZ, Boston followed by Rick Garys second departure
as he leaves for WMEX recorded December 7, 1972. And a short
break of Chip Lee who held the Noon to 3 spot. From the Lee Goodman
collection. April
1973 Andy came to The Big 15
from WTLB in Utica where he was program director for a number of years.
Dave Mance did overnights between Les Howard and Pete McKay for a while,
then some work for 62WHEN in the mid 70's. He is now owner of a
cluster of stations in the Watertown area.
_______________________________________________________________________________ June 1973 Jocking on WOLF? Yep, apparently a fill in one late evening June 17,
1973 for Jay Walker. Ron went on to several positions. One at WRRB and
WKFM before returning to join his friend Rick Gary on WSYR for a short
while. But because of WSYR's conservative listeners that was short lived
and Ron moved on to WSEN and WEZG for a number of years.
Dave Mance August 1973
Dave Mance's last show on WOLF August 22,
1973 from the Lee Goodman collection.
Todd Michaels August 1973
Todd replaced Big Don Bieffer who returned to Toronto after a short
stay at WOLF. He came in June from the Binghamton area where he also did
mornings on WENE.
