If you're
interested in starting a website for your small business or for your
personal needs, possibly I can help. I don't do large businesses or
corporations, just simple and to-the-point websites that tell your
customers or your friends and family what you're all about. It also allows
me to lend more personal attention to your site whether it is a one-time
design or it needs to update weekly. I can advise you where to
start, from domain names and web hosting to your monthly
cost.
When
it comes to designing your website, I've always said "Keep It Simple,
Stupid". With so many variables beyond your control, why invite
problems?
The two main areas where over-complicated problems can
occur are: technically and visually. Take a look at any of the large
websites that get thousands of hits every day. The technology behind them
may be awesome, but it's usually well researched and tested before it hits
the web. When you have the responsibility of catering to a large audience,
you can't afford to make your site difficult to navigate with cool new
plug-ins or links that go deep into your site with no way out except
"X".
Also in many cases, big sites don't look complicated. In fact,
you may say some sites are plain or simple. In most cases, simplicity
means 'simple to use'. You may feel they're boring or predictable but that
usually means it's familiar and should be easy for you to use.
